The “deposit” of the primary mineral was discovered by border guards on the border with Romania
In Transcarpathia, the border guards of the Mukachevo detachment together with customs officers discovered a batch of amber in a car.
A 46-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a resident of the city of Chernivtsi, tried to secretly move the reserves of the gem across the border.
The 46-year-old Bukovinian traveled to Romania through the Dyakovo checkpoint on a Mercedes minibus.
During an in-depth inspection of his vehicle, border guards together with customs officers discovered caches with amber.
“Deposits” of sunstones were hidden from the eyes of law enforcement officers in the front of the air intake and in the bottom under the driver's and passenger's seats.
In total, the man tried to bring unprocessed colored stones from Ukraine, as well as finished products from amber weighing 13.9 kg.
At the moment, the precious stones and the vehicle were seized from the Ukrainian.
The 2015 Mercedes Sprinter of Ukrainian registration was estimated at more than UAH 643 thousand, and the cost of amber will be determined by an expert.
