Rivne police detained 5 workers of locomotive depot, who poured 15-30 tons of fuel from diesel locomotives every month

All detainees have been informed of the suspicion and precautionary measures have been taken.

The activities of the group were exposed by the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Rivne region and the investigators of the Rivne District Police Department. During the investigation, the police established that employees of the locomotive depot of the regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia organized the theft of fuel. The defendants sold the fuel drained from diesel locomotives to residents of the region, as well as through illegal gas stations.

Every month, in this way, the depot workers received from 15 to 30 tons of fuel and, accordingly, from 500 thousand to a million hryvnias of “profit”. The funds were distributed among all members of the group.

On July 23, three workers of the locomotive depot were detained “hot”, they managed to drain 200 liters of fuel. In addition, according to the results of 32 sanctioned searches, the police seized 2880 liters, more than 750 thousand UAH, containers for storing stolen fuel and “draft” records.

In total, in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, law enforcement officers detained five people. All were informed of the suspicion of Art. 27, part 3 of Art. 191 (appropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, all suspects have been given preventive measures: four persons — in the form of detention, another participant — house arrest.

Documentation of illegal activities took place with the assistance of employees of the office of the director for economic and information security of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” and under the procedural leadership of the Rivne District Prosecutor's Office.
