Interim elections of the People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: police opened 17 criminal proceedings in Ivano-Frankivsk region

12 of them - related to violation of electoral law, another 5 - relate to the electoral process. In total, law enforcement received 113 reports of possible violations.

In order to ensure order during the mid-term elections of the People's Deputy, police officers of Ivano-Frankivsk region closely monitored the order and promptly responded to all reports of possible violations of electoral legislation.

In total, 113 messages were received on line 102. After a thorough check of the information received from citizens, the police compiled 12 administrative protocols: mainly they related to violations in the manufacture or placement of materials for election campaigning.

In addition, investigators and investigation units initiated 17 criminal proceedings. 12 of them are directly related to violation of electoral legislation, 5 are indirectly related to violation of electoral process.

In particular, criminal proceedings have been initiated:
1 - on the fact of obstruction of the exercise of the electoral right..., the work of the election commission..., committed by a preliminary conspiracy by a group of persons (part 3 of Art. 157 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);
5 — on the facts of bribery of voters (Part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);
1 — on the fact of using forged documents (Part 3 of Art. 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);
4 — on the facts of knowingly false reporting of a threat to the safety of citizens, destruction or damage to property objects (Part 1 of Art. 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Also, in the period from April 2 to 3, the police initiated six criminal proceedings for the theft of ballots from six polling stations. During the pre-trial investigation in these criminal proceedings, the site of the incident was examined in the premises of the district election commission, witnesses were questioned, in particular the representative of the candidate for People's Deputies, three members of the CoR No. 87, 64 members of the PEC, including chairmen, deputies and secretaries, eight police officers, three official observers, two journalists and the director of the House of Culture, where the OVC is located. A number of operational measures and investigative actions are also planned.

Police officers of Ivano-Frankivsk carefully examine all reports, including information on the Internet, about possible violations of electoral legislation and after conducting a first-line check, provide all events with legal qualifications.

All criminal proceedings initiated are investigated.
