Border guards detained poachers with catch of mullet for 2 million hryvnias
Soldiers of the Odessa Detachment found persons engaged in poaching activities in the controlled border areas.
During the patrol of the coast of Lake Alibey, in Tatarbunar district of Odessa region, border guards together with representatives of the police and the fish guard patrol found three local residents who illegal fishing with prohibited fishing equipment was carried out on a float. In this way, men managed to catch more than 280 kg of mullet, and this is more than 3 thousand specimens of aquatic biological resources. The previous amount of damage caused to the state is almost 2 million hryvnias.
In the actions of poachers there are signs of a crime provided for in Art. 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illegal occupation of fish, animal or other aquatic extractive industries”.
We remind you that in accordance with the Law “On the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine”, border guards are also assigned tasks to control in the areas of service the preservation of natural resources and underwater cultural and archaeological heritage, compliance with the rules of industrial and other activities, environmental protection.
