Border guards discovered a record batch of smuggling, which was brought on a ship with cement to Nikolaev
Approximately 13 tons of contraband arrived on the ship. As of 8 am, three-quarters of the containers with illegal goods have already been unloaded.
Tons of junk — shoes, sports suits, swimsuits, perfumes, auto parts, etc. were illegally moved to Ukraine under the guise of cement. The smuggled cargo arrived in Ukraine by a foreign vessel through the Nikolaev port. From above, the ship was indeed loaded with cement, under which more precious goods were hidden.
The illegal cargo was discovered yesterday, May 17, during the implementation of operational information by the border guards of the Kherson and Odessa detachments in cooperation with the Regional Department of Maritime Protection of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
The events were carried out to carry out tasks on counteracting offenses related to the minimization of customs payments, determined by the resolution of the coordinating meeting of law enforcement agencies of the Nikolaev area, which was held under the chairmanship of the leadership of the Nikolaev regional prosecutor's office, with the involvement of SBI investigators.
Currently, the investigative actions continue and the circle of persons involved in the illegal trafficking is established. Unloading of big bags (soft containers) with contraband junk continues.
After carrying out the relevant examinations and recalculation, the amount of the valuation of the goods will be established.
