Border guards eliminate the channel of illegal migration of immigrants from Asia
Searches were carried out at 9 addresses of defendants in criminal proceedings in Kyiv, Chernivtsi and settlements of Tyachivsky and Khust districts of Transcarpathia.
The sanctioned searches took place within the framework of criminal proceedings under Article 332 of the Criminal Code “Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine”. The proceedings were opened on the basis of the materials of the Main Operational and Investigative Department of the Mukachevo Border Detachment.
Law enforcers found out that the organizers of the channel established illegal transit through Ukraine to the EU of immigrants from Asian countries. For the movement of each illegal carrier, transporters took from 3 to 6 thousand US dollars. Operators of the State Border Guard Service established that since November 2020, the organizers tried to illegally transfer to Hungary and Romania more than two dozen illegal migrants who arrived in Ukraine as students through this channel. Seven groups of illegals were detained by the border guards of the Mukachevo detachment.
During the investigation, it was possible to establish the addresses of stay and residence of the members of the criminal group, who organized the channel of illegal transportation across the state border of illegal migrants from Asia to the countries of the European Union. The sanctioned searches took place this morning. They were carried out by an interdepartmental group of employees of the Main Operational Detachment of the Mukachevo Border Detachment, Migration Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region, and employees of the SBU in the Transcarpathian region, with the strong support of the Operational Response Unit of the State Border Guard Service “Dozor” area. Investigative and operational activities were held under the procedural direction of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office.
During the searches, evidence of illegal activities of the defendants was found and removed: electronic media, radio stations, a notebook with rough records of the suspects, mobile phones and significant amounts of money in different currencies. Documents and invitations for training of Afghan citizens, packages with an unknown substance of dark color were also discovered.
At the moment, two defendants in the criminal case have been declared on suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 2 of Art. 332 KKU. Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.
If the suspects are proven guilty, they face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to seven years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.
