Border guards record a significant increase in passenger traffic, in particular at the border with EU countries
Traditionally, on the eve of Christmas and holidays, passenger traffic increases at the border, especially at the border with EU countries. The vast majority of travelers, including a large number of employees and students, return to Ukraine for holidays to their family and
friends. For example, if in the first 20 days of November the border guards of the Lviv detachment registered about 240 thousand people at the checkpoints, then for the same period in December — almost 90 thousand more people.
To ensure the rhythm of crossing operations at the checkpoints, the number of border outfits for checking documents and inspecting vehicles has been increased.
Note that most passengers choose the usual routes, which may not always be the fastest. For example, in the area of the Lviv border patrol, the most loaded are the checkpoints for the Rava-Ruska, Krakivets “Shehyny” and for air traffic “Lviv”. In the rest of the checkpoints, there is usually less download. In order to quickly cross the state border, we recommend choosing the least loaded checkpoints. We suggest tracking the state of their workload on online resources, including the official website of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine https://dpsu.gov.ua/ua/map/ or the Facebook page of the Western Regional Department of the State Border Service.
We also draw the attention of travelers that when crossing the border, in addition to checking documents, DPSU employees also carry out control measures related to preventing the spread of coronavirus infection. Therefore, we ask those citizens who do not have documents about vaccination to install the application “At home” even before crossing the border, and at the checkpoint itself to activate the program.
