Border Guard Attacked and Wounded in Russia Marked by Decree of President of Ukraine
The President of Ukraine praised a border guard officer who received knife wounds while performing his duties at the Consulate General of Ukraine in St. Petersburg.
Captain Dmytro Pronko was awarded the Medal “For Impeccable Service” of the third degree, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine 182/2021 on the recognition of state awards of Ukraine.
Recall that on February 19 of this year, in St. Petersburg, at the Consulate General of Ukraine, a soldier of the State Border Guard Service, who performs the task of protecting foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, was attacked by a man with a knife. He inflicted several knife wounds on the border guard.
The Russian, without explanation and for apparent reasons, attacked the soldier immediately, as soon as the door was opened to him. Only thanks to the reaction of the border guard, the wounds inflicted on him turned out to be non-fatal.
Employees of the Consulate General of Ukraine immediately called an ambulance. Before her arrival, another soldier of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine provided the wounded man with primary medical care.
At the moment, the serviceman is feeling well and continues to perform his official duties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine protested to the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation over the attempted murder of the Ukrainian border guard.
