The President of Ukraine introduced a new Minister of Internal Affairs
Today, July 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky presented the new head of the department — Denis Monastyrsky — to the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Head of State noted that the most important task facing the Minister of Internal Affairs is the trust and respect of people to the law enforcement agency.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal, in turn, congratulated Denis Monastyrsky and presented the certificate of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
“This is a high, responsible position. Being a member of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is not only a great honor, it is a huge responsibility. The Ministry of the Interior is extremely powerful. It is responsible for peace, reliable protection of our citizens in the interior of the state and, in particular, during armed aggression — from external aggression. For two years you worked as the head of the Law Enforcement Committee. I am sure that Mr. Monastyrsky's experience will be a good basis for the successful work of the ministry and the growth of trust,” said Denis Shmyhal.
For his part, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs thanked for the trust and identified the main priority areas of the ministry's work, including: the fight against organized crime, the development of all law enforcement agencies, the projects “Community Police Officer” and the “Community Policing” approach.
“We must develop further expansion of the functioning of the System of Automatic Photo-Video Detection of Violations of Traffic Rules, with the help of which mortality on the roads of Ukraine should be halved in 5 years. In addition, priority remains the issue of preserving the highways that are being built according to the program of the President “Big Construction”, the construction of a modern equipped state border, which is one of the main tasks of the reform of the State Border Service of Ukraine, as well as the issue of increasing the level of digitalization of all spheres of work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The National Guard and the National Police should ensure public order in maximum coordination,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
