Representatives of the Canadian UNIFIER operation significantly expand cooperation with the Academy of NGU

At the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine there was a meeting of the Academy leadership and representatives of the Joint Operational and Tactical Group of the Armed Forces of Canada in Ukraine (Operation UNIFIER). At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Academy Lieutenant General Serhiy Sokolovsky introduced foreign servicemen to the specifics of the educational institution, taking into account the forms of training, the peculiarities of training

at the faculties, the mastery of practical skills by cadets.

“Today, the Academy is the main training institution for officers in the NGU system, so it is extremely important for us that the training process here is modern and efficient. We will be happy to show you the capacity of our educational institution, - said Lieutenant General Serhiy Sokolovsky. “Discussion of key points of future cooperation is important for the educational institution, since it is planned to hold a number of events to improve the system of training officers within three months.” During the meeting, the participants discussed the planning of military work. Armed Forces of Canada, who have been working at the Academy since April and helping to improve the training programs of future officers.

“Cooperation with the Guard is one of the most promising directions. We have already carried out significant work on improving the professional training of the sergeant staff in the Training Center of the city of Zolochiv. And now we have a new goal - a gradual increase in joint exercises and trainings right here at the Academy,” said Lieutenant Colonel Melanie Lake, commander of the UNIFIER operation. The main attention was paid to the issue of cooperation between the officer and sergeant-sergeant staff.
Lieutenant Colonel Melanie Lake noted that this issue is important and needs improvement among Ukrainian forces.

“I was lucky to visit the training center in Zolochiv and I am very pleased with the latest reforms. I was convinced that the NGU prepares servicemen at an extremely high level and the sergeant-sergeant staff of the National Guard has tremendous potential, - said the chief sergeant of the UNIFIER operation, Master Warrant Officer Donovan Crawford. - We would like to suggest that it be the sergeant involved in the system of training officers. staff and staff. After all, these are experienced military personnel who have more than 10 years of experience. In fact, this is an important and powerful tool. An experienced sergeant can advise how to act in a particular situation, both in peacetime and during hostilities. The sooner they start working together, the more they will trust each other.” The head of the Academy supported the idea and suggested involving
instructor sergeants to conduct classes with cadets during initial military training and during field outings at the training center.

After the meeting, the guests were shown the work of a modern training complex on fire training and the language department of the Academy.

In addition, during the meeting, the deputy commander of the UNIFIER Sniper Group, Gregory Smith, received the regular rank of staff officer. UNIFIER Operation Commander Lieutenant Colonel Melanie Lake invited Lieutenant General Sergei Sokolovsky to hand over shoulder straps to a Canadian serviceman.

Also, the head of the Academy presented each foreign guest with a souvenir coin of the educational institution and thanked for their cooperation.
