Law enforcement officers detained three suspects in the theft of more than 400 thousand US dollars
Their actions were qualified by investigators under Part 5 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For theft committed by a criminal group on a particularly large scale, men face from seven to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
The 38-year-old native of Donetsk region stopped at one of the gas stations on the Odessa-Nikolaev highway and left the car unattended for a few minutes. Taking advantage of this, the offenders smashed a car window, pulled out a bag of money and fled in their car, causing damage to the victim in the amount of more than 400 thousand US dollars.
Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the GUNP of Odessa region together with the employees of the police department No. 1 of the Odessa RUP No. 2 detained three suspects in a forest area near Odessa. They were immigrants from Transcaucasia aged 39 to 59, who had previously been prosecuted for property crimes. The attackers were placed in a temporary detention center.
