Law enforcement officers detained illegal migrants in Black Sea port
Illegal migrants were found in the Black Sea port during the registration of a ship that arrived from Turkey.
Detention of violators occurred as a result of the implementation of advance information by the operatives of the Odessa detachment together with employees of the SBU and customs.
Two illegal migrants were found among a load of cloth in a Turkish-registered semi-trailer. Alien violators did not have any documents. They called themselves Syrian citizens and admitted that they planned to illegally reach relatives in Italy. Migrants said that at the port of Turkey, each of them paid 7,000 euros for the opportunity to travel locked in a semi-trailer.
The investigators also established that a compatriot who has a temporary residence permit in Ukraine was already waiting for the tourists near the checkpoint.
Currently, criminal proceedings have been opened and all the circumstances of the illegal activity are established. Investigative actions are ongoing.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2021, the border guards of the Odessa detachment have exposed and stopped the illegal travel of 15 migrants.
