Law enforcement officers detained a resident of Kremenchuk who shot at police from the window of an apartment
In Poltava region, a resident of a neighboring high-rise building began shooting at police officers who came to work out a call about the conflict. As a result of the urgent measures, the internal security officers of the National Police and the Kremenchuk Police, with the support of special agents, established the identity of the shooter, declared him suspicious and placed him in a temporary detention center.
At night, employees of the Poltava department of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police received information about the shelling of policemen in the city of Kremenchuk, who were rehearsing a challenge regarding the conflict situation in one of the city's night establishments. An unknown person from the window of a high-rise building aimed at two law enforcement officers during execution.
At the scene of the incident, police internal security operatives and employees of the Kremenchuk district police department established the apartment from which the shooting was fired and the identity of the attacker. The shooter was a 38-year-old local resident who lived with a minor daughter. In the past, the man was convicted of poaching and theft with trespassing.
With the physical support of the soldiers of the special police and the procedural leadership of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office, law enforcement officers conducted an urgent search in the home of the intruder. A half-disassembled air pistol was discovered and recovered, and in the courtyard of the house there was a gas cylinder and a store, which the man threw out the window to get rid of evidence.
At present, the investigators of the Kremenchuk district department of the Poltava region police announced to the defendant a suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 345 (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition, according to the results of the medical examination, it was established that at the time of the shooting the attacker was in a state of drug intoxication.
Currently, the man has been detained under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility. For the actions committed, he may be threatened with restriction of liberty for up to five years or imprisonment for the same term.
