Law enforcers exposed Ukrzaliznytsia employees in an attempt to seize 3 million UAH of budget funds
The attackers falsified official documentation and tried to carry out repair work at unreasonably inflated prices. At the moment, the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed. Suspects can face up to 12 years in prison.
Investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine, under the operational support of the Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, uncovered a criminal “scheme” to squander budget funds by officials of JSC “Ukrainian Railways” and official forgery.
In the course of the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers established that in 2019, the official of the production unit of the Konotop track distance of the regional branch “South-West Railway” of JSC “Ukrainian Railways” was made known by prior collusion with the engineer of the production unit and the director of a private enterprise false official documents in order to seize three million hryvnias of budget funds.
Due to timely actions, the money was arrested, and therefore the assignment of damages to the state was prevented.
Two officials of the Konotop railway line of the regional branch “South-West Railway” JSC “Ukrainian Railways” and the director of a private commercial structure were informed of the suspicion of committing criminal offenses provided for in part 2 of Art. 28 part 1 of Art. 28 of Art. 1 of Art. 366 (Service forgery by a preliminary conspiracy by a group of persons), part 2 of Art. 15 part 5 of Art. 191 (Completed attempted appropriation or embezzlement of property by abuse of official position on a particularly large scale) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Suspects can face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
At the moment, the pre-trial investigation is completed, the materials are open to the other party.
