Law enforcers and representatives of local authorities should join forces to properly monitor compliance with quarantine restrictions
This was emphasized by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sergey Yarovyi during the selection meeting. It was attended by the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klymenko, his deputies Yevhen Koval and Alexander Facevych, as well as the heads of the structural units of the NPU and the GUNP.
Serhiy Yarovyi noted that since the introduction of quarantine in 2020, police officers have been constantly serving in a strengthened mode:
“Every day, to monitor the observance of quarantine restrictions, about 17 thousand law enforcement officers go out into the streets, and these are mainly police officers, representatives of the National Guard and the DSND S. All law enforcement officers understand how difficult the situation is in regions with the spread of coronavirus, especially in the so-called red zones. However, not all citizens understand this, and in particular business entities. That is why we must take a principled stand and demonstrate an integrated approach, including involving local authority leaders and representatives of all interested services in monitoring compliance with quarantine restrictions.”
The First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs noted that the preservation of life and health of citizens should be a priority in the activities of all services, and therefore emphasized the need to combine efforts, full understanding and coordination of actions, as well as information in the media about the work of all services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in such difficult conditions.
In his speech, the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klymenko stressed that regional commissions cannot weaken the anti-epidemic measures established by the decisions of the State Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergency Situations:
“All the decisions of the government must be implemented. And carrying out appropriate explanatory and information work with people is not only the responsibility of the police, but also the heads of regional state administrations, regional and city councils and deputy corps. Therefore, the raiding groups should include, in addition to law enforcement officers, representatives of the authorities, the State Consumer Service, members of public organizations for the protection of public order and the state border.”
Igor Klymenko said that from today, employees of structural units of the National Main Departments will also be involved in patrolling the streets. police of Ukraine in the regions.
Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Facevych added that in some regions of the state restrictions on passenger transportation on special passes have been introduced, so he drew attention to the strengthening of the presence of law enforcement officers at public transport stops and near metro stations: this will avoid provocations and promote observance of the mask mode.
Particular attention during the selection meeting was paid to the implementation of quarantine restrictions during the festive divine services.
According to Deputy Alexander Fatsevich, thanks to the preventive work that was carried out with the clergy, it was possible to prevent significant violations:
“We have a number of religious holidays ahead of us. We must do everything possible to ensure that the divine service is held as it was during the celebration of Easter by Christians of the Western Rite.”
