Law enforcement officers have declared suspicion to a former official in the illegal mining of minerals in the Mykolaiv region
As a result of the illegal actions of the executor of the duty of the director of the state enterprise at the correctional colony, the state suffered losses in the amount of more than 273 million hryvnias.
Investigators of the Pervomaisk district police department of the GUNP in the Nikolaev area, under the procedural guidance of the Pervomaisk district prosecutor's office, reported the suspicion of the 46-year-old former official in committing the crime provided for in Part 4 of Art. 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Violation of the rules of protection or use of subsoil, illegal extraction of minerals”.
Law enforcers established that in 2019, for several months, the executor of the duties of the director of the state enterprise at the correctional colony, despite the fact that the special permit for the use of subsoil was stopped, continued to carry out explosive work on the extraction of minerals of national importance - granite in the quarry of the then Arbunzyn District. As a result, the state suffered losses in the amount of more than 273 million hryvnias.
For his actions, the defendant faces up to eight years in prison.
The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is currently being decided. Also, law enforcement officers establish the involvement of other persons in the commission of the specified criminal offense. The investigation is ongoing.
