Law enforcement officers suspect four officials for illegal logging of forest in Kyiv region
The attackers entered false information into documents that gave the right to carry out continuous felling of trees on areas of several hectares without conducting an environmental impact assessment. The amount of damage caused to the state is almost 13 million hryvnias.
Three forestry and hunting officials forged documents for three years, including false information regarding the area of the plots, which made it possible to avoid obtaining a conclusion on the assessment of environmental impact when carrying out continuous sanitary felling on an area of more than hectares. The attackers involved an official of the supervisory authority in the field of forestry into accomplices.
It has already been established that the amount of damage caused to the state is almost 13 million hryvnias. Employees of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine were involved in the investigation.
The employees of the National Police - Department for the provision of activities related to hazardous materials exposed criminal activity. Pre-trial investigation of the investigator of the second investigative department (with a location in the city of Kiev) of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in the city. Kyiv is carried out under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
At the moment, all defendants have been declared under Part 2, Part 4 of Art. 246 (Illegal chopping or illegal transportation, storage, sale of forest), part 2 of Art. 364 (Abuse of power or official position), Part 2 of Art. 367 (Civil negligence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years.
