Law enforcement officers of Odessa region detained a robbery group that attacked truckers

Internal security officers of the National Police established a group of “robbers from the big road” from among residents of the Odessa region, the victims of which were drivers of heavy trucks. The attackers were detained. Police investigators notified them of suspicion.

Operatives of the Odessa department of the Department of Internal Security of the NPU received information about the activities of a criminal group of persons who operated on highways.

In addition, data were established on the preparation of intruders to organize another ambush on the highway in the near future, this time on the driver of a heavy truck, which was heading from Odessa to the Zaporizhzhya region and had cash with him in the amount of UAH 370, 000.

In order to stop the truck, the conspirators carefully prepared. We conducted a visual surveillance of the auto enterprise, from where the object they selected followed. At a gas station, tires on a truck were cut imperceptibly. Subsequently, they waited for the forced stop of the truck and before dawn on the territory of the Kherson region they attacked the driver.

Internal security operatives of the NPU and the investigators of the GUNP in the Odessa region detained the criminal group “on the hot”. The attackers seized a knife, a gas can, ties and balaclavas.

Under the procedural guidance of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office, police investigators declared the defendants of the attacks a suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of seven to ten years with confiscation of property. The attackers are currently detained under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
