Today, June 30, World Social Media Day, cyberpolice remind about the main schemes of attackers and provide recommendations on how not to get hooked on them.

In addition to the many possibilities and advantages, there are a number of threats associated with the use of social networks. In particular, attackers often act according to the scheme “a friend asks for a loan.” In this case, having hacked the user's account, fraudsters send a request for a loan, replenishment of a mobile account. Sometimes they post information about fake fees for treatment. If friends ask for money through a social network, you should call and check the information.

It is also common to sell non-existent goods on social networks. As a rule, in such cases, scammers demand a subscription for the goods, but after receiving the money, they block buyers.

Hackers on social networks can distribute phishing links, in particular, to collect information about bank cards and subsequent appropriation of money, as well as obtain authorization data of accounts.

For safe use of social networks, we recommend:

- do not neglect two-factor authentication — this is the best protection for online accounts;

- use a complex password, different for each social network;

- do not access accounts from other people's devices;

- never send private photos or photocopies of documents: in case of hacking — these data will end up with attackers;

- do not follow dubious hyperlinks;

- not to distribute illegal content;

- for online shopping, use proven resources and give preference to cash on delivery.

Citizens should also remember that representatives of the social network will never write to personal messages, but only to the mail specified during registration.
