Driver's license. What will change in the near future?
The Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated September 22, 2021 No. 1007 will enter into force soon. It introduces a number of innovations in terms of issuing a driver's license and allowing citizens to drive vehicles.
The driver's license will indicate a mark on passing a practical exam on a vehicle with an automatic transmission in the form of the code “78" in column 12 of the certificate. In the presence of such a mark, drivers will be able to drive the car only with an automatic transmission, and in its absence - with any. The changes will not affect those drivers who were issued a driver's license earlier.
The validity period of the result of the successfully passed theoretical exam in the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was increased from 3 months to 2 years. But not longer than the validity of the certificate of completion of the institution for the training of drivers of vehicles.
Drivers no longer need to provide documents confirming driving skills when opening a lower category or category with a trailer (VE, B1E, SE, C1E, DE, D1E).
On the driver's license, information about driving restrictions will be displayed in the form of codes, as in EU countries, instead of icons, as before. In particular, they will be displayed in the form of codes:
medical reasons for restrictions (glasses, hearing aids, limb prostheses, etc.); vehicle adaptation (modified transmission, adapted clutch pedal, modified brake
systems, etc.); driving the vehicle only during daytime hours, only without passengers, within city/region, etc. The process of passing exams is also optimized:
in the case of simultaneous opening of two categories, exams (exam) are taken at the higher of them (except categories B1, B, BE). In particular, when opening categories C and C1, theoretical and practical exams are taken only according to category C;
when returning a driver's license after deprivation of the right to drive, if there are several open categories in it, theoretical and practical exams are also taken in the higher category. All innovations will be introduced immediately after publication the said resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, in addition to the innovation concerning the indication of the mark on the automatic transmission in the driver's license, which will be implemented
