This is evidenced by the results of the questionnaire of the personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine and the National Police on the issues of participation in international operations to maintain peace and security, conducted at the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and with the support of the UN organization Women in Ukraine.

The purpose of the study is to implement the Action Plan of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on compliance with the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, Security”.

In the study, 38,873 respondents were interviewed, among them 7,466 were women and 31,407 were men. In the National Guard of Ukraine, the survey was conducted among 1293 women and 7645 men, and 6172 women and 23,759 men were interviewed in the National Police of Ukraine.

The survey was conducted in order to determine the level of awareness of NPU and NGU personnel regarding the realization of rights and opportunities to participate in international peace and security operations, as well as to identify circumstances that could affect the participation of women and men from NPU and NGU in such operations.

Thus, according to the results of the survey, 51% of the interviewed military personnel of the NGU and 38% of police officers of both sexes consider their own participation in international peacekeeping operations. For the most part, respondents learn about the possibility of participating in the elections from managers, colleagues, relatives and personnel services.

In the NGU, the distribution is as follows:

- from managers - 34% men and 28% women;

- from colleagues/acquaintances/relatives — 33% of men and 26% of women;

- from the personnel service — 13% of respondents of both sexes;

In NPU:

- from colleagues/relatives - 20% women and 22% men;

According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ekaterina Pavlichenko, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is constantly working to ensure gender balance in the security sector.

“We strive to ensure the full, equal and meaningful participation of women in the processes of achieving and preserving peace, political decision-making, which is important for an effective peacekeeping process and achieving a sustainable peace,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko during the discussion of the results of the study.
