More than 2.6 thousand law enforcement officers are ready to ensure law order during mass events on May 2 in Odessa - Serhiy Yarovyi
This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs during a meeting of the operational headquarters of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Odessa.
“A large number of mass events are expected. Our task is to prevent provocations, as well as to ensure compliance with all quarantine requirements,” Serhiy Yarovyi stressed.
According to him, on May 2, more than 2.6 thousand law enforcement officers will participate in the enhanced duty regime.
“On the eve of May 2, we are conducting coordination work with the personnel of all units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who will be on duty. In total, more than 1.5 thousand law enforcement officers of the Odessa garrison and more than a thousand personnel from other regions were involved in the mass events. We are ready to ensure law and order during mass events,” Serhiy Yarovyi said.
The First Deputy Minister said that already today a joint briefing of all the security forces of the region took place at Kulikovo Field, which will serve on holidays and commemorative days. Control at the entrance to the city has also been introduced. At stationary and additional posts, a thorough inspection of vehicles will be carried out.
In addition, to collect and analyze information, a situation center will work around the clock as part of all the services of the Ministry, which will coordinate the work of the bodies and departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Serhiy Yarovyi also added that enhanced patrolling of the city's central streets has already begun.
And on May 2, columns of participants in mass actions will be accompanied by units of the Dialogue Police.
