More than 100 thousand UAH of illegal profit for winning the auction for the purchase of wood - a group of officials will appear before the court
Among the accused are the head of one of the regional departments of forestry and hunting in the Western region and three officials of the Khotyn forestry.
The “scheme” of obtaining illegal benefits was organized by the head of one of the regional departments of forestry and hunting in 2020. Three more officials of the Khotyn Forest Farm helped him. They demanded money from entrepreneurs for the winnings in the auction for the purchase of business wood through the electronic bidding system and its unhindered sale at a price of 1000 UAH per cubic meter. The received money was shared by the officials among themselves.
In November 2020, the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Chernivtsi region of the National Police with law enforcement colleagues detained the organizer of the “scheme” while receiving UAH 30 thousand of illegal benefits. In total, the participants of the transaction received UAH 117 thousand “rewards”.
In February of this year, investigators of the SBI Tertiary Department located in the city of Khmelnytskyi, under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Western Region, informed the organizer and three of his accomplices about suspicions under Part 3 of Art. 28, Part 3 of Art. 368 (received by an official illegal profit committed as part of an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings has been completed, and the indictment against four persons has been referred to the Khotyn District Court of Chernivtsi Oblast.
The sanction of the incriminated article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
