Police detained two of Ukraine's most influential “lawbreakers” — spread of their criminal influence stopped
“Vorum in the Law” under the nicknames “Umka” and “Lasha Svan” incriminates the establishment and dissemination of criminal influence in the corresponding criminal status - Article 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“We continue the irreconcilable war with organized crime - the police detained two of the most influential “lawbreakers” in Ukraine. New legislation, political will and expertise of operatives will gradually eradicate this shameful criminal phenomenon. We will not stop,” said Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov.
Law enforcers established all spheres of their activities and connections. These individuals from the “top” of the criminal world formed criminal groups and controlled through their representatives the criminality in the state, incited the commission of new crimes and caused the emergence of additional threats to the security of citizens.
Operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations and investigators of the Main Investigation Department, together with the Office of the Prosecutor General, have documented evidence of the spread of criminal influence of “wills in the law” for more than a year. It is known that “Umka”, crowned in 2014, and “Lasha Svan”, “in law” since 1995, received their high “titles” from top representatives of the Russian criminal world. They were considered one of the most influential “lawmen in law” in Ukraine and controlled crime at once in several regions — Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, Nikolaev, Zaporizhia and parts of the Western region.
Documentation of illegal activities of “worev in law” took place in two main stages. The first was in April of this year, when during a large-scale police special operation in the Dnipropetrovsk region, a criminal group led by the so-called “polozenets” was exposed and 16 of its participants were immediately reported about the suspicion, including five “spies” and four criminal “authoritarians” of the tetets.”
The second stage took place yesterday, May 19. The police detained two “guards in the law”: “Umku” - at the airport of Dnipro during an attempt to leave the country, “Lasha Swan” - in a hotel.
Currently, investigators, in agreement with the procedural heads, are preparing a report for them on suspicion of art. 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Searches continue.
Recall: criminal liability for the establishment or dissemination of criminal influence by a person who is in the status of a subject of increased criminal influence, including in the status of “villain in law” has entered into force in Ukraine since June last year, after the adoption of relevant amendments to the legislation.
