Police of Kharkiv region promptly detained two intruders who committed shooting in a passenger train
By order of the head of the GUNP in Kharkiv region, a special police operation “Thunder” was put into action for the detention of offenders. As a result of the incident, none of the citizens were injured.
The report that unknown people had fired into the compartment of the train “Konstantinivka-Kyiv” reached the Krasnohrad district police department on April 6 at about 02:00.
The leadership of the regional police chief, the investigative and operational group of the territorial unit, experts, explosives equipment, mobile forensic laboratory arrived at the scene of the incident.
The police found out that two soldiers were locked in the compartment of the train and were firing firearms. The scene was immediately blocked, passengers were evacuated. Head of Kharkiv police Andriy Rubel decided to involve special forces of KORD in the operation. The offenders barricaded themselves in the compartment and threatened the police to open fire on the damage in the event of an assault.
As a result of clear and coordinated actions of special agents, the attackers were able to be detained for several minutes. They turned out to be two servicemen who were heading to Kiev.
Currently, one of them, a 30-year-old man, is detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators are currently working with another offender. On the fact of the incident, criminal proceedings were opened under Part 4 of Art. 296 (hooliganism) and Part 1 of Art. 345 (threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For the commission of this crime, punishment is provided in the form of imprisonment for up to 7 years. All the circumstances of the incident are clarified.
