The police opened criminal proceedings on the fact of animal cruelty

In the village. Tsukury Kakhovsky district, a 31-year-old man is suspected of shooting two dogs with a hunting rifle. The police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 299 (Cruelty to Animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For an act committed, the defendant may face up to three years of restriction of liberty.

Yesterday, April 8, at about 16:50 the Kakhovsky district police department received a message from a resident of the village. Sugars. The woman said she returned with her daughter and two dogs from her mother from a nearby village. On the way home, a classmate drove up to them on a scooter and asked to remove the dogs from the street. And when the woman refused, the man took out a hunting rifle and shot both animals.

Arriving at the scene, the police found out that the citizen resorted to such actions, because on that day at lunchtime his crying daughter came home, who was playing on the street near the yard. The child said that two yard dogs damaged her shoes. The man waited for the woman with the animals to return, made a remark to her and insisted that she keep the dogs in the yard, because he would shoot them. And when the applicant did not react to his words, he took out a shotgun and shot both dogs.

In order to fully and objectively establish the circumstances of the incident on this fact, the police initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 299 (Cruelty to Animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of a fine from one thousand to three thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to six months or restriction of liberty for up to three years. The pre-trial investigation continues.
