Police of Poltava region detained foreigners who kidnapped and illegally detained a farmer from Pyriatyn region for almost a week
The kidnappers demanded money from the man, as well as rewriting business and real estate in their favor. Currently, two defendants, born in 1995 and 1986, have been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They are informed of suspicions of crimes and the issue of choosing preventive measures by the court is resolved. Kidnappers face up to 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
On January 1, 2022, at about 16:00, a 29-year-old man turned to the Poltava police for help, who said that his 55-year-old father-in-law was supposed to visit him on December 31, 2021, but he did not arrive. The applicant also noted that telephone contact with the test suddenly disappeared and his whereabouts were unknown to his relatives. The police immediately began a search.
After receiving a report about the disappearance of a resident of Pyriatyn, the police of Poltava region immediately began a search. According to this fact, the investigators of the Unit No. 1 (Pyriatyn) of the Lubny District Police Department, under the procedural direction of the Lubansk District Prosecutor's Office, the information was entered into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations on the basis of the qualifying signs of Part 1 of Article 115 (Deliberate Murder) of the Criminal Court index of Ukraine. Focusing on the search for the missing farmer was immediately posted on the official Internet resources of the regional police, sent to the personnel of the police of Poltava region and regions of Ukraine.
During the first operational search and investigative actions, the police managed to find out that the missing man left the house in his own car “Subaru Forester”. Upon further elaboration of operational information, criminal investigation officers and investigators of Poltava region established that the missing 55-year-old businessman left Pyriatyn in the direction of Kyiv by car on December 30, 2021.
Poltava Police Chief Yevgeny Rogachev said:
“After processing the entire array of operational information received, we found the car of the missing Pyryatynka near one of the high-rise buildings in the city of Ukrainka, Kyiv region. During the search of the vehicle, police investigators seized documents belonging to the missing man and physical evidence indicating the possibility of his abduction. In the future, we received operational information that the wanted man was illegally detained in one of the houses of Kiev. I decided to immediately conduct a special operation to release the man and detain the persons involved in his abduction. As it turned out, Piryatynka was kidnapped by foreigners, who for a long time, with the use of physical violence, demanded money from him, as well as to rewrite business and real estate in their favor. Currently, two defendants, born in 1995 and 1986, have been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They are informed of suspicions of crimes and the issue of choosing preventive measures by the court is resolved. Operational and investigative measures are also being carried out to identify other persons who may be involved in the commission of this crime.”
According to this fact, the investigative unit of the police, under the procedural direction of the Lubansk District Prosecutor's Office, investigates criminal proceedings opened according to the legal qualification of Article 14 and part 2 of paragraph 3 of Article 115 (Attempted premeditated murder), parts 2 of Article 289 (Illegal possession of a vehicle), parts 4 Article 189 (Extortion) and Part 2 of Article 146 (Illegal Imprisonment) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In case of admission of guilt by the court, the defendants face from 10 to 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
A particularly serious crime was discovered by the employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police together with the operatives and investigators of the Poltava region police with the support of a number of operational units of the central apparatus and the police of the city of Kiev, with the involvement of special units of the KORD (GUNP m. Kyiv) and BPOP (GUNP Poltava region).
