Police of Kyiv region detained an armed driver who shot at law enforcement officers
During the patrol of the city of Vyshgorod, employees of the response team of the patrol police of the Vyshgorod district police department stopped the car “Audi”, the driver of which was moving chaotically along the road.
In response, the man took out a weapon and started pointing it at the police officers, after which he drove into the barricade and tried to escape.
When asked by the police to stop, the man did not react and continued to move. The police chased the driver, but the violator repeatedly created emergency situations and fired about eight shots in the direction of the officers' service car.
In forty minutes, the car managed to block and detain the driver in the Pechersk district of the capital.
During the investigation, it was found that the 33-year-old man was intoxicated.
Earlier, he was also criminally prosecuted under Art. 129 (Threat of murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
At the scene of the incident, the investigative and operational team of the Vyshgorod RUP, as well as employees of the Kiev police worked. As it turned out later, the offender fired from a device for firing rubber bullets. Weapons, permits, cartridges and casings were removed from the scene.
The car was seized and delivered to a specially designated area for temporary detention of vehicles.
The police detained a 33-year-old man on the order of art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 348 (Invasion of the life of an employee of a law enforcement agency, a member of a public organization for the protection of public order and the state border or a serviceman) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of nine to fifteen years or life imprisonment.
