The police of the Kiev region detained a particularly dangerous robbery gang “Sensei”
Law enforcement officers exposed an organized crime group that was unique in its level of training, mastery of conspiracy and the nature of the commission of crimes, which had been operating since 2017. The robbers account for a bloody attack on a lawyer in the capital, a robbery at the estate of an appeals court judge and an attack on the mayor of one of the cities.
The gang was headed by a 42-year-old resident of Chernihiv region with the nickname “Sensei” - the president of the Federation for the Promotion of Sports and Hand-to-Hand Combat in Ukraine. The criminal group included 10 defendants. At the moment, the involvement of the perpetrators in the commission of at least two dozen serious and especially serious crimes has been confirmed.
In late 2017, a criminal group attempted to kill a police officer by attaching an explosive device under the wheel of a car. As a result, the law enforcement officer received bodily injuries.
In April 2018, in Brovary, intruders carried out a robbery attack on the home of one of the judges of the Court of Appeal. A group of people in balaclavas infiltrated the home, threatened the family, including minors, with pistols and a grenade. They took the server with videos, weapons, cars, cash, put the owner's son in the trunk of the car and left the scene of the crime.
“The attackers could have been preparing for a robbery attack for weeks, installed hidden video surveillance systems next to the homes of potential victims, chose the most favorable ways to penetrate the estates, made excavations, used homemade ladders,” said the chief of police of the Kiev region Andriy Nevitov.
The defendants did not use private transport, went on foot in the robbery, and information about potential victims was obtained from Internet publications and media. Some of the victims were forced to confess that they were corrupt, although this was not true. Repeatedly, they took fake cash with them to the business in order to record spectacular videos supposedly exposed for their telegram channel.
In September 2018, a Kiev lawyer suffered at the hands of intruders. In the capital Pechersk, three defendants attacked him and, having spread both legs, stole 15 thousand dollars, 1000 euros and jewelry. A patrol police outfit arrived at the scene, but the attackers inflicted a gunshot wound to a law enforcement officer. During the escape from the scene, a grenade broke in the hands of one of the attackers, as a result of which he died.
In December 2020, in the village of Gora, they attacked IT businessmen, took cars and bank cards, and a few days later carried out a robbery attack on the family of one of the mayors of the cities of the Kiev region. When the couple was resting in the gazebo, unknown people ran into the territory of the estate, tied the spouses up, inflicted bodily injuries, and then ran into the house to take away valuables.
At the end of 2020, intruders attacked the estate of a former law enforcement officer. They tied up a security guard, and with the owners' child sat down to play monopoly, trying to ask where the parents kept their fortunes. A 4-year-old boy showed where the safe was, which the intruders took and took to a neighboring building, sawed and took the fortune.
At the beginning of 2021, criminal investigation officers of the Kyiv region found and detained four defendants of the criminal group. During the searches, more than 10 units of weapons, explosives, means of conspiracy and communications were seized. At the same time, the co-organizers admitted that the leader of the gang was a person with the nickname “Sensei”.
“We understood that the 4 detained OZG defendants may not be the only henchmen of Sensei, because the organizer could recruit many more such “performers” through the Internet. And until he can be detained, the robberies will continue, and the residents of private estates in the Kyiv region will continue to be in danger, because the bandits really did not care whether the owners were corrupt or not, the main thing is that they had wealth. We understood the public danger of Sensei and stepped up the search even more carefully.”
In June 2021, intruders attacked the owners of a private house in the village of Stoyanka. They strangled the owners with belts and forced the victims to admit that they were corrupt. All for the sake of spectacular videos in the Telegram channel, which was started by intruders. In the same period, the police of the Kiev region announces the organizer and his accomplice with the nickname “Chemist” on the wanted list.
“For almost a month, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department and special agents of the KORD unit tracked 4 addresses of the possible location of the organizer. On one of the days he appeared at one of the addresses and, in the end, law enforcement officers detained Sensei and his “right hand” — “Chemist”. During the searches, the police seized weapons, as well as forged documents,” the head of the Kiev police said.
Thanks to the coordinated and painstaking work of the Criminal Investigation Department employees together with the employees of the Buchansky District Police Department, the Cyber Police Department, with the involvement of special agents, the attackers were found and detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Currently, attackers are incriminated by Part 3 of Art. 187 (Robbery combined with penetration into a dwelling, other premises or storage), part 3 of Art. 289 (Illegal possession of a vehicle combined with violence, dangerous to the life or health of the victim) and part 2 of Art. 146 (Unlawful imprisonment or kidnapping of a person. The defendants of the criminal group now face up to 15 years in prison, while Sensei himself faces life imprisonment.
The court chose the organizer a preventive measure in the form of detention. His henchman and 4 other previously detained persons of the criminal group are now in the detention center.
