The police of the Kiev region exposed a criminal organization that operated for a long time in Transcarpathia
The police of the Kiev region conducted a large-scale special operation in Western Ukraine. Law enforcement officers detained 7 members of the criminal organization, who are suspected of committing serious and especially serious crimes in the territory of the Transcarpathian region. In the cities of Lviv and Mukachevo, law enforcement officers conducted 23 searches, involved 60 police crews.
Members of the criminal group specialized in robberies, arms trafficking, smuggling, drug sales, as well as kidnapping people. Mukachevo criminal organization was an organized stable hierarchical association that systematically and purposefully engaged in criminal activities.
The criminal organization was exposed by the Criminal Investigation Department and the Investigative Department of the Kyiv Police Department together with police officers of the Lviv region and Transcarpathia under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, as well as with the involvement of special agents.
All the defendants of the criminal group are residents of Transcarpathia aged from 25 to 46 years old, of athletic physique, have martial arts skills. Currently, the police are investigating the involvement of these individuals in the kidnapping of the famous Mukachevo rapper in September 2020, as well as a number of armed clashes.
On May 29, law enforcement officers detained the 41-year-old organizer of the group at Lviv airport. It is established that the man was previously convicted under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The attacker arrived in Lviv on a flight from Turkey. Another coordinator of the group was detained by law enforcement officers at the border with Poland.
During the searches, the police seized more than 50 units of firearms, 15 units of automatic weapons, 2 pump guns, 10 pistols of the “PM” system, 5 “Fort-17” pistols, 5 TT pistols, 6 grenades, more than 40 stores, cartridges, devices for silencing shooting.
The attackers found a whole arsenal of cold weapons in the amount of 100 pieces, thermal imagers, radio stations, gps trackers, work clothes and body armor, which the defendants used in their criminal activities.
At the place of residence of the participants of the criminal organization, they also found precious Swiss watches, gold jewelry, jewelry and currency obtained by criminal means. The attackers seized 6 vehicles, including the premium Mercedes and Audi, which were used during the preparation and direct commission of crimes.
In addition, the police seized 800 grams of drugs from the criminal group.
Currently, 7 people, including the organizer, have been detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The defendants were informed of suspicion under a number of articles: creation of a criminal organization, illegal imprisonment, robbery, illegal possession of a vehicle. (part 1, 2 of article 255, part 4 of article 28, part 3 of article 146, part 4 of article 187, part 3 of article 187, part 3 of article. 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of choosing preventive measures for detainees is being resolved.
For their actions, they face up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. It also checks the involvement of the defendants in the commission of similar crimes on the territory of Ukraine.
