Police of Kyiv region exposed persons involved in industrial waste contamination of more than 10 hectares of land in the region
Since the beginning of the year, numerous foci of clogging of the territory with industrial garbage began to be detected on the territory of the Kiev region, which could pose a danger to the life and health of citizens. Especially large-scale was the illegal shipment of garbage in the Obukhiv, Belotserkivsk and Brovary districts.
The police established persons who carried out the removal of industrial waste and its unloading in places not adapted for garbage disposal. So the other day, law enforcement officers inspected the clogged area in Myronivka and conducted a search of the Kamaz car, during which they seized samples of industrial waste, consignments and the truck itself.
During the authorized inspection of another land plot in the Obukhiv region, where industrial waste was also removed, vehicles were seized — tractors, which, according to preliminary information, masked the garbage with earth. From the sites of the landfill, ecologists selected samples of industrial waste for further study.
On the basis of the decision of the investigating judge, law enforcement officers conducted a search at one of the cardboard and paper mills of Obukhiv district, during which they discovered and seized documentation, as well as selected samples of industrial waste, which was taken from the territory of the plant to different districts of the Kiev region.
The criminal activity was exposed by the employees of the Department for the Protection of Public and State Interests of the Civil Service of the Kyiv Oblast Police, the Criminal Police and the Preventive Activities Department of the Kyiv Region Police, the employees of the Obukhiv District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office. Environmentalists of Kyiv region were also involved in the events.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Article 364 (Abuse of power or official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to six years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with a fine of five hundred to one thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.
The Kiev police urge citizens to report possible cases of clogging of the territory, because caring for the environment is one of our priority tasks.
