Kyiv police: the further investigation of the accident involving the people's deputy is entrusted to the investigator of the SBI
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, the procedural head was determined by the head of proceedings in view of the presence of a special subject among the defendants of criminal proceedings - the People's Deputy of Ukraine.
The traffic accident occurred on August 23 in the Darnitsky district of the capital. Then the Audi car, not keeping a safe distance while driving, drove into the Ford car, which was moving in front. And “Ford” - in the car “Daewoo”. As a result of the triple accident, six people were injured.
On the same day, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this is a violation of the rules of road safety or the operation of transport by persons driving vehicles.
At the scene, patrolling police officers and investigators documented all persons traveling in cars. At the time of the arrival of law enforcement officers, the participants of the accident were near the cars, so it was necessary to establish for sure who exactly was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.
Police interviewed participants and witnesses, seized fingerprints and other material evidence. Also, police investigators have already appointed a number of necessary examinations to, among other things, establish at what speed the car was moving.
During the first investigative actions, one of the witnesses reported that a man was driving the Audi, as it later turned out — a People's Deputy of Ukraine. At the same time, other witnesses deny these testimonies.
However, according to the legislation, in the event of information about the possible commission of a crime by a special subject (in this case, the People's Deputy of Ukraine), the procedural head is obliged to change the prosecution. So the police investigators sent a letter to the prosecutor's office with a request to transfer the materials of said criminal proceedings to the relevant law enforcement agency. Currently, the prosecution is determined by the State Bureau of Investigation. All materials collected by police investigators are fully transferred to the SBI.
