Donetsk police announced the suspicion in absentia of two “operatives” of the terrorist organization “MGB DPR”
The police collected an evidence base in relation to two militants who detained and tortured citizens - carried out an imitation of execution, used electric current. Illegally imprisoned persons were transferred to the Izolyatsia prison. The defendants are brought to justice under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Police departments for combating crimes related to trafficking in human beings, the Investigation Department (detective services) and under the procedural leadership of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office have exposed persons involved in crimes in the Izolyatsia underground prison.
It was established that two men, 35 and 39 years old, joined the terrorist organization “MGB DPR” in 2016, where they were appointed to the positions of operational officers. Militants were given the task of identifying pro-Ukrainian citizens and using physical and psychological violence to force them to sign “confessions to espionage”. The purpose of the terror was to intimidate the local population.
Law enforcers documented the facts of torture against civilians during interrogations. Thus, one of the prisoners was tortured with electricity connected to vital organs for four hours, and the other was taken to the wasteland, where they were bullied and staged an execution. Among the victims are women, in particular the elderly. Subsequently, the prisoners were placed in the torture “Isolation”, where their suffering continued.
The defendants were informed in absentia of suspicion of participation in a terrorist organization, illegal paramilitary formations, violation of the laws and customs of war, cruel treatment of the civilian population, committed according to a preliminary conspiracy by a group of persons committed according to a preliminary conspiracy by a group of persons (part 1 of Art.. 258-3, part 1 of article 260, part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
As of today, 9 people have been notified of suspicion of similar crimes.
