Police detain three men on suspicion of murder of Kyiv man
The attackers beat the man in his same apartment, and then took him away in an unknown direction. The body of the victim was found in a forest strip in Kyiv region. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Capital Chapter, the Pechersk Police Department and under the procedural guidance of the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Kyiv, three persons involved in the abduction and murder of a resident of the capital were detained.
Kyiv Police Chief Andriy Kryshchenko said that a roommate of the victim contacted the police, who found a mess and traces of blood in the apartment:
“It turned out that the day before the victim had a conflict with the attackers. When the applicant decided to visit her roommate in the morning, she saw scattered things in the apartment, traces of blood on the wall and floor. We interviewed witnesses who said they saw a group of unknown people near the entrance and remembered the car in which they arrived. A special police operation was introduced in the city. Within a day, we quickly identified the probable criminals. During the operational-search measures, the body of the victim with numerous knife wounds was found in the ditch of a forest strip outside Kiev. Yesterday, three suspects of committing a crime were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
These are two natives of the Luhansk region and a resident of Kyiv. The attackers have previously repeatedly fallen into the field of view of law enforcement officers.
“According to this fact, the investigative department of the Pechersk police department initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 115 (Premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. At the moment we are finding out the motives of the crime and identifying possible accomplices,” the head of the capital's head added.
The defendants are informed of the suspicion of committing this crime and the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided. The sanction of the article provides for up to fifteen years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
