Police officers of Zaporozhye liquidated fraudulent call center
The call center was located in one of the office premises in the city center. At the time of the investigation, 20 operators “worked” there. During telephone conversations, attackers in various ways lured money from citizens and transferred it to their own accounts.
On June 5, the operatives of the police department No. 1 of the Zaporizhzhya district police department of the GUNP in Zaporizhzhya region, together with the investigators under the procedural guidance of the district prosecutor's office and with the strong support of the soldiers of the special police battalion, stopped the illegal activities of a group of fraudsters who created fraudsters call center. At its location, the police conducted an authorized search.
The investigation found that in order to implement their fraudulent scheme, the organizers rented premises in the city center, provided all the necessary technical equipment and selected staff from among young people. At the time of the investigation, 20 people “worked” there. The so-called operators of call centers called citizens, more often they chose the category of elderly people. Further using the scheme: “your relative is in trouble” or “your bank card is blocked, entered into trust and insisted on the urgent transfer of money to their bank accounts.
During the search, police officers seized and sent for examination 21 computers, mobile phones, draft records and other physical evidence of criminal activity.
At present, further procedural actions are being carried out aimed at proving the guilt of the defendants and bringing them to justice under Part 3 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For fraud committed on a large scale or through illegal transactions using electronic computer technology, the law provides for a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
Currently, law enforcement officers establish the organizers of the criminal business, the final number of victims and the amount of damage caused to them.
Recall: in Zaporizhzhia, criminal investigation officers promptly exposed an intruder who committed theft from a car in the parking lot of a shopping center.
