Police officers of the Kherson region have exposed the head of the National Natural Park in the systematic hiring of tourist buses. In order for tourists to get to the island without hindrance, the official demanded illegal benefits from carriers.
The amounts of “rewards” fluctuated depending on the number of tourists.
Today, August 26, operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Kherson region of the National Police detained the acting director of the national natural park - a deputy of the Melitopol City Council during the receipt of the next “tranche”. A private carrier gave him six thousand hryvnias for permission for the unhindered passage of a tourist bus to the territory of the island.
The official was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of notifying him of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is resolved. For his actions, he may face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years, with confiscation of property.
Investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by the territorial department of the SBI, located in the city. Melitopol, under the procedural leadership of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
