Police seized counterfeit cigarettes worth almost 400 thousand hryvnias in Kramatorsk
The police exposed two residents of Kramatorsk in organizing the shadow trade in tobacco products and liquidated two underground warehouses of illegal goods. In total, more than 10,800 packs of cigarettes with signs of counterfeiting were seized.
In Kramatorsk, the police conducted two operations to combat criminal offenses in the sphere of tobacco products.
Operational information on the involvement of a resident of Kramatorsk in the sale of counterfeit was received by the employees of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Donetsk region of the DSR of the National Police together with the detectives of the Investigative Department of the Donetsk Police and representatives of the border service.
According to the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, an authorized search was carried out at the place of storage of excisable goods.
More than 7310 packs of cigarettes of famous brands without excise tax stamps or with excise stamps produced in the Republic of Belarus were withdrawn from the warehouse. The preliminary value of the withdrawn at average prices is more than 292 thousand hryvnias.
It was established that the respondent sells products of dubious quality in a shopping kiosk on the territory of the city.
Pre-trial investigation is ongoing under Part 1 of Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (manufacture, storage, acquisition, transportation, shipment, importation into Ukraine for use in the sale of goods, sale or sale of excise tax stamps or holographic protective elements).
For this offense, three to seven years in prison are provided.
Another fact of illegal sale of cigarettes with signs of counterfeiting was documented by operatives and investigators of the Kramatorsk Regional Police Department with the force support of the special unit KORD.
In the household of a 62-year-old shopkeeper involved in the sale of counterfeit tobacco in retail outlets, police seized more than 300 blocks of cigarettes without excise stamps totaling more than 3,500 packs. The approximate value of the withdrawn is 100 thousand hryvnias.
On both facts, examinations are appointed. Sources of supply of counterfeit tobacco products are established.
