Police reported on suspicion of a “spy” behind the Kryvyi Rih institution of execution of sentences
A man sentenced to life imprisonment is suspected of establishing and spreading criminal influence on convicts.
As established by the operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in the Dnipropetrovsk region of the National Police, imprisoned for the execution of the owner of a construction shopping center, having connections with the leaders of the criminal world, received the status of a so-called “spy” in the correctional colony. 56-year-old man through his confidants as in the prison as well as in a special institution, organized a collection of funds for the “community”. In addition, in order to replenish it, they established drug supply channels to the colony and forced convicts to participate in gambling.
According to the results of the investigative and operational measures, the police and employees of the operational department of the correctional colony collected evidence of the involvement of the “authority” in the establishment and spread of criminal influence in the correctional colony. Law enforcement officers conducted authorized searches in the cells of the defendants and their places of residence and seized: drugs, draft records, telephones, unmarked weapons, cartridges of various calibers, bank cards.
On the basis of the evidence received, the investigators of the investigative department of the Dnipropetrovsk region police informed the “Kryvyi Rih Institution of Execution of Punishments” under Part 2 of Art. 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Measures to expose the convict in illegal activities were carried out with the participation of representatives of the South-Eastern Interregional Department for the Execution of Criminal Punishments of the Ministry of Justice. Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Measures are being taken to bring to justice persons involved in criminal activities.
