In 2013, a man brutally killed a couple, and the house with the bodies of the victims was set on fire. After committing the crime, the defendant hid in the territory of a neighboring state. In cooperation with the department of international police cooperation, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the regional police detained the fugitive.

A double murder was committed during the conflict. The 39-year-old assailant inflicted several fatal knife wounds on a friend, and then killed his roommate in the same way. To hide the traces of the crime, the man set fire to the victims' house and fled.

Despite all the efforts of the defendant to disguise the murder as an ordinary fire by negligence, the police collected the necessary evidence of the suspect's involvement in the commission of the crime provided for in paragraph 1 part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Intentional murder).

Realizing that he was threatened with criminal responsibility for his actions, the man decided to escape from justice by moving outside the territory of Ukraine.

During the operational-search activities, the police determined that the man was hiding in the territory ofthe Russian Federation and declared him on the international wanted list.

During this time, the suspect changed several settlements, phone numbers and rented apartments, believing in this way to escape from law enforcement agencies.

Through close cooperation with the department of international police cooperation, the operatives located the suspect and detained him.

Yesterday, September 29, the man was extradited to Ukraine.

Now the detainee will wait for the verdict of the court in custody in Mariupol, where he was escorted from the checkpoint “Goptivka-Nekhoteyeevka” of Kharkiv region by regional detectives.

He faces 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
