Threatened with murder and demanded funds: Precarpathian police detained a criminal group
Law enforcement officers exposed intruders who committed robbery attacks on citizens. Members of the group engaged in extortion and used intimidation or physical violence against their victims. They managed to be caught “hot” when they again went on the crime.
The investigators of the regional police department managed to neutralize the activities of the criminal group together with the employees of the USBU in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, under the procedural leadership of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional prosecutor's office.
On June 18, at about 21:00 four masked men broke into the apartment of the 31-year-old victim, attacked the owner, inflicting blows. Unknown people threatened the victim with murder and demanded money in the amount of 50 thousand US dollars. Without finding the right amount in the apartment, the attackers seized more than 5000 UAH, 10 US dollars, Czech crowns and UAE dirhams.
During the pre-trial investigation, investigators found that the organizer of the group is a 36-year-old resident of Tysmenytsia, previously convicted. The accomplices are three Frankivists: 19-year-old, 23-year-old and 30-year-old men.
The offenders were detained by law enforcement officers during the crime in the victim's apartment along with the stolen funds, and unregistered weapons, ammunition and psychotropic substances were seized at their place of residence.
On the fact of the robbery, the investigators initiated criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. All members of the criminal group were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine, they were informed of suspicion of robbery, and the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The involvement of the group in other crimes on the territory of Ivano-Frankivsk region and abroad is checked.
