Honorary mission: Dog trainers of the 5th Slobozhanska brigade go to training for the parade

Four canine pairs of the 5 Slobozhanska Brigade were selected to participate in the Independence Day parade. Kharkiv journalists visited one of the guards' training sessions.

She, along with three other dogs from Kharkiv, was selected to participate in the military parade for the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine.

“It is clear that there will be a lot of people at the parade, so we are currently conducting classes, training on socialization, a general course. So that the dog does not react to extraneous sounds, to strangers, screams, noise. On the cameras. So that she behaves calmly,” says senior trainer of the canine platoon Oleksandr Bratkovskyy. Together with Alza, the experienced dog Amorek trains on the field.
He is already 5 years old. Dog expert Oleksandr Piven notes that for several months he and Amorek got used to each other, but now they work together in tandem.

“When I first met, Amorek growled at me a little, but during training, while performing official duties, he began to work very well with me. Now we are working on the command “near”. For the parade, it is very necessary that the dog has discipline,” says senior trainer of the kennel platoon Oleksandr Piven. To participate in the military parade for Independence Day, the best of the best dog handlers and service dogs were chosen.
One of the most important selection criteria for canine units is the good social adaptation of dogs. Behind the upbringing of the dog is a lot of work and constant training, dog experts note.

“The dog pairs of the brigade perform tasks for the protection of public order, for the convoying, extradition and protection of defendants and in the area of the operation of the United Forces,” says Anatoly Sabodash, head of the canine service of the 5th Slobozhanska Brigade. In preparation for the parade in Kyiv region Slobozhansky The guards and their four-legged pets will depart as early as June 30.
This year, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to attract more than 4000 participants to the parade.
