Beaten and took 74 thousand dollars: Kharkiv police exposed a gang of foreigners
The attackers seized the money of the 43-year-old victim, and also forced him to transfer funds to another electronic account. The total amount of material damage caused was more than 74 thousand US dollars.
The incident took place on August 31 in the Kiev district of Kharkiv.
The police found out that that day, a 43-year-old Lebanese citizen was in an apartment at the place of residence with his friend for 30 years. At about 22:00, an unknown woman rang at the door of the property. When the victim opened the door, he was hit on the head, and four masked men burst into the apartment, who immediately began to beat the victims. Then the attackers began to demand from the 43-year-old man to give them all the money that is in the apartment. Thus, the gang seized money in the amount of 55,000 US dollars. Also, the attackers forced him to transfer electronic money in the amount of more than 19 thousand US dollars from his own account. After that, both men were bound with duct tape, the 43-year-old victim's mobile phone was taken away and left the apartment. The attackers spoke Arabic.
By the investigative department of HRUP No. 1, information about the incident was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 4 of Art. 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for from 8 to 15 years imprisonment with confiscation of property.
During the conducted investigative and operational-search activities, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department and other operational units of the GUNP in Kharkiv region together with the Criminal Police Department of Kharkiv District Police Department No. 1 of the GUNP in Kharkiv region, police officers of the Migration Police Department, fighters of the Special Purpose Police Regiment and the SBU in Kharkiv region established that four foreigners aged 24 to 28 are involved in the crime.
On September 15, during searches of the places of residence of the defendants, law enforcement officers seized: the victim's bank card, a starting gun, money, a gas can, starter packs and SIM cards of mobile operators, mobile phones, dry and crushed plant matter gray-gray green, clothing that foreigners were wearing during the attack.
Three attackers have already been notified of suspicion of committing a crime provided for in Part 4 of Article 187 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court chose a preventive measure for them in the form of detention without the right to make bail.
Currently, the police are taking measures to locate the organizer of the robbery.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out under the procedural direction of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office under the operational support of the SBU.
