Results of the activities for the half year: the National Guard of Ukraine held a meeting of the military council

The National Guard of Ukraine held a meeting of the military council with the heads of structural units of the Main Directorate, territorial departments, commanders of units, military units, heads of bases, health institutions and institutions of the National Guard of Ukraine. In view of compliance with quarantine requirements, the meeting was held in video conference mode.

The commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel-General Mykola Balan outlined the main achievements and achievements of all military units and units.

“Assessing the results of our military and military activities during this period, I want to thank all personnel for their conscientious work. Despite the fact that during the first half of 2021, the activities of the National Guard were carried out in the conditions of combating the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19, I want to emphasize that the entire range of tasks, both in the military and in the law enforcement spheres, has been fulfilled,” the commander of the NGU noted.

Significant contribution has been made to ensure the safety of citizens. In the reporting period, the guards during their service handed over to the employees of the National Police more than 3 thousand people suspected of committing a crime, more than 46 thousand people for administrative offenses. Detainees seized 87 units of firearms and 100 units of cold weapons, 14 grenades, more than 434 kilograms of narcotic substances and raw materials, more than 1.2 thousand tons of scrap metal, 45 tons of crushed stone, almost 100 kilograms of raw amber, more than 40 cubic meters of roundwood. Property in the amount of more than UAH 1 million has been returned. Development of the Strategy (Vision) of the National Guard

of Ukraine is ongoing, which will determine the directions of development. To this end, a working group was created, which included representatives of the NGU, as well as foreign advisers, representatives of interested central executive bodies, such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the National Institute of Strategic Studies. Work has been started on the development of doctrinal documents and the creation of the main doctrine — the Doctrine of the NGU activity, which aims to increase the compatibility of the National Guard of Ukraine with other components of the security and defense forces.

Separately, Colonel-General Balan focused on achievements in the field of international cooperation of NGU. In particular, during this period, with the support of the instructors of the Joint Operational and Tactical Group of the Armed Forces of Canada in Ukraine (Operation UNIFIER), the development of training programs for intelligence units, snipers, special purpose units, combat medics has been developed, the cadet training program has been improved, the cadet training program has been conducted language training for the personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation with the Carabiner Troops of the Italian Republic, with the General Inspectorate of Carabiners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova has already been signed and bilateral cooperation with the Swedish Armed Forces has been launched.

As part of the implementation of the agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the French Republic on official support in the establishment of the Unified Aviation Safety and Civil Protection System in Ukraine in May this year, the National Guard received the third Airbus H-225 helicopter. By the end of this year, the aviation of the NGU should be replenished with 4 more helicopters of the French company. In total, there are plans to expand the park to 12 helicopters, which will be used to quickly move personnel over long distances to perform specified tasks, evacuate the sick and wounded, carry out search and rescue activities.

In order to carry out effective diagnostics of personnel in conditions of increased incidence of COVID-19, the capacity of 8 laboratories of medical units of the military units of the NGU has been actively introduced and increased to carry out enzyme immunoassay for the detection of antibodies to coronavirus disease. The vaccination campaign continues. All this, together with the observance of quarantine measures, makes it possible to minimize the incidence of personnel with COVID19.

Participants of the event also focused on maintaining a high level of combat readiness and interaction with the military management bodies of the Armed Forces, as well as with other components of the security and defense sector during joint implementation defined tasks.

At the request of the meeting of the Military Council, priority tasks in the areas of activity for 2021 were determined.
