Units of the National Police are ready to ensure law order at mass events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence - Igor Klymenko

To carry out these events, units of the National Police switched to an enhanced version of service. The number of patrols in places of mass stay of citizens for the period of holidays will be increased. In addition, during the mass events in the center of Kyiv, the traffic of vehicles will be partially limited, the schedule and scheme of public transport will be changed.

This was discussed today, August 16, at an extended meeting with the participation of the Deputy Head of the National Police Oleksandr Fatsevich, the Chief of Police of Kyiv Ivan Vyhivsky and representatives of the Moscow State Administration, departmental educational institutions and law enforcement agencies.

The head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klymenko noted that in connection with the planned festive events on the occasion of the Flag Day and the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine from August 16, all departments of the system of internal affairs bodies are switching to an enhanced version of service. All structural units of the police will be involved in the protection of public safety and order. In places of mass stay of citizens, the number of patrols will be increased. Soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine will also be involved in the patrol.

“From today we begin practical work on preparing for the festive events on the occasion of Independence Day. About 10,000 policemen and soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine will work in the city of Kiev. In order to ensure law and order, we will strengthen patrol uniforms in public places, at bus stations, at the railway station, in the metro and airports,” said Igor Klymenko.

Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Fatsevich noted that the main paid forces as part of the consolidated detachments had already arrived in the capital.

“The task of law enforcement officers, first of all, is to strengthen the garrisons of Kyiv and Kyiv region to carry out high-quality preventive measures. The second is the provision and assistance of the Kiev police in connection with the arrival of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Ukraine. Therefore, all forces will be directed to work and help the Kyiv head and the region,” Oleksandr Fatsevich noted.

The head of the Kiev police Ivan Vyhivsky added that the personnel of the capital's police are ready to carry out tasks to ensure law order.

“We have already strengthened the outfits in the places of the planned events, where rehearsals for Independence Day are now being held. In addition, we pay attention to the prevention of crimes, including property crimes,” the Kiev police chief said.

At the same time, he said that the capital's police officers will actively work out places of concentration of citizens, entertainment establishments and places of rest, infrastructure facilities of Kiev.

Igor Klymenko stressed that during the mass events it is necessary to involve people with knowledge of a foreign language in order to ensure communication and understanding with the guests of the capital, in particular - in terms of servicing calls to hotline 102. In addition, many citizens will travel outside the city during the holidays, so special attention must be paid to timely response to reports of possible property crimes.

“This is our common task - to spend these holidays with dignity. The main thing is to have timely exchange of information and communication, then we will achieve a positive result,” the head of the National Police stressed.
