Under the walls of parliament, the memory of the guards who died in 2015 was commemorated
On Constitution Square, near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a ceremony was held to commemorate the National Guardsmen, who died on August 31, 2015 at this place during the service.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov, the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky, the commander of the National Guard Nikolai Balan, together with parliamentarians and relatives of the dead honored the memory of the dead fighters.
Attendees laid flowers at the memorial plaque to the dead Igor Debrin, Dmitry Slastnikov, Alexander Kostin and Bohdan Datsiuk.
Recall that on August 31, 2015, when the issue of decentralization and granting special status to certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions was discussed, clashes broke out between demonstrators and law enforcement officers under the walls of the Verkhovna Rada.
Outraged by the adoption of amendments to the Constitution, protesters pelted the parliament building with smoke bombs and detonated a grenade in the middle of the border of law enforcement.
As a result of the explosion, one guard was killed and three more soldiers were injured. Immediately after the tragedy, the heart of 25-year-old senior soldier Igor Debrin stopped beating. The next day, 21-year-old soldier Dmitry Slastnikov and 20-year-old soldier Alexander Kostina died from their injuries. Subsequently, without regaining consciousness, 25-year-old soldier Bogdan Datsiuk also died.
More than 100 law enforcement officers suffered injuries of varying severity.
All of them served in the First Presidential Brigade of Operational Assignment named after Hetman Petro Doroshenko of the Northern Operational and Territorial Union of NGU.
As you know, the Shevchenko Court of Kyiv is essentially considering a case of a terrorist act. The court ordered round-the-clock house arrest to the first defendant in the case and ordered Sergei Krainiak not to leave the house in the village of Kiev region, where he is registered, and to wear an electronic bracelet.
The other accused, Igor Humenyuk, is still in custody.
