The first assistant of the President was not planned to intimidate, but to kill Denis Monastyrsky
This was stated today, September 22, by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky during a briefing.
“I want to emphasize that the purpose of this attack was not to intimidate, namely to kill the first assistant to the President of Ukraine. More than 10 shots were fired at the car, more than 11 inlets have been recorded so far. As soon as the driver is operated, his life is not in danger. Even before going to the hospital, he managed to indicate to the investigators exactly where the shots were fired. This made it possible for the investigator to inspect the scene and carry out the necessary investigative actions,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko said that the investigation is currently considering three versions of the incident.
“At the moment, taking into account the received preliminary data, we are considering three main versions of the crime committed - in connection with the state activities of the victim, in order to pressure the top leadership of the state and in order to destabilize the political situation in our state. A version with the participation of special services of foreign states is also being considered,” he said.
Igor Klymenko noted that the attack was probably carried out with automatic weapons because of the number of bullets that entered the car and pierced its rear wheel.
“Previously, I emphasize, they fired automatic weapons beforehand. Caliber — 7,62. So, on the lowered wheel, the vehicle still traveled about 5 km. The driver is really injured. The first assistant to the President, fortunately, was uninjured. We can say that the intentions of the criminals were serious enough. The qualification of the crime at the moment is “Attempt on the lives of two or more people.” The best operatives and investigators of the National Police, the dog service and the National Guard, which is currently combing the forest strip where the crime was committed, are involved in the investigative and investigative actions. And, of course, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, work with us from the first minute. The number of intruders is being clarified,” the head of the National Police stressed.
Recall that today, September 22, in the Obukhiv district of the Kiev region, at about 10.20 hours, a car was fired on, in which the first assistant to the President of Ukraine Sergey Shefir was riding.
