“The protection of the state border is a common cause of the whole Ukrainian people”
He noted today, November 4, during the Forum “Ukraine 30. Safe community” First Deputy Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Volodymyr Nikiforenko.
He noted that the State Border Service is developing, reforming and carrying out its activities on the basis of transparency and openness, in close cooperation with society.
To establish this cooperation, border guards interact with police officers, local executive authorities, carrying out tasks to protect the border and maintain public order.
The First Deputy Head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine noted that in order to protect the state border, it is necessary to unite the efforts of both the subjects of integrated border management and border communities and border residents. He noted that in order to maintain security, work is currently underway to allocate land plots up to 50 meters wide along the border for engineering facilities.
“We feel strong support from local communities in the development of the border and border agency, so we believe that accomplishing this task will create a solid foundation for the proper arrangement and maintenance of border infrastructure. After all, border security is the security of the whole country and we count on your support,” Volodymyr Nikiforenko added.
On behalf of local communities, the Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Serhiy Gaidai focused on border security. The specificity of the region is that it is both borderline and “front-line”. The head of the Regional State Administration noted that Luhansk region is often the territory where various pilot projects are implemented. Among them, he noted the development of modern border infrastructure on the site of the Troitske border service department. We are talking about more than 100 km of the border, where a complex of engineering structures is equipped: an anti-traffic ditch and a shaft, a control and track lane, a rockery road, a barrier fence with barbed wire and an intelligent video surveillance system on 15 observation towers. All-weather cameras, touch, vibration and thermal imaging devices effectively counteract intruders: they capture the smallest details around the clock at any time of the year.
“I would very much like to hope that it will spread further along the border,” said Sergei Gaidai and once again reminded that we are at war.
“And those who received the first blow are the border guards, and now they are just defending our borders from our neighbor, who for many years talked about fraternal relations, and now we have a clear Russian armed aggression,” the head of the Luhansk regional state administration said.
