The main versions of the death of the mayor of Kryvyi Rih are suicide and suicide — National Police
Therefore, the version of premeditated murder and the staging of suicide has been refuted by the investigation. At the same time, the police establish the motives of suicide, among which versions related to the personal life of the deceased, the presence of the mayor and the bringing to suicide are considered.
This was discussed today, September 7, during a briefing on the progress of the investigation into the circumstances of the death of the mayor of Kryvyi Rih.
Recall, on August 15, the body of the mayor of Kryvyi Rih was found on the doorstep of his house. There was a firearm next to him.
According to the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate — Head of the Investigative Department of the GUNP in the Dnipropetrovsk region Oleg Slipchuk, at that time the police worked out three main versions of the death of the mayor: premeditated murder, careless handling of firearms and suicide:
“Four CCTV cameras were found at the scene, including inside the house. According to the results of the review of this video by police officers, it was established that for a long period of time the man was in the house on his own, namely, on the night before the tragedy. No outsiders were detected in the house when viewing the CCTV camera.”
Oleg Slipchuk said that at the same time a technical examination was appointed in order to be able to reject the facts of editing the videos.
“According to the results of the study of the surrounding territory, after establishing additional witnesses, eyewitnesses, additional cameras that were located on the houses next to the house of the deceased, the investigation concluded that at about 6:45 a.m. a fatal shot took place, as a result of which the victim died,” Oleg Slig said Pchuk.
Deputy Head of the Department of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine Mykola Batyuk said that currently more than 180 people have been interrogated in criminal proceedings to establish the circumstances of the victim's death.
“Forensic examinations were appointed on all the physical evidence seized during the inspection of the scene — on the hunting rifle, on his clothes, as well as on the washings from his hands and faces. And to date, separate examinations have already been completed, according to which we can affirm that his death occurred as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest, with damage to the heart, left lung and ribs. These bodily injuries were caused by a single shot from a firearm, which was equipped with a 7.5 mm diameter bullet. In addition, forensic examination gave us data that the really fatal shot was carried out at close range. And this data was confirmed by another examination that was carried out on the washes from the hands, face and T-shirt of the deceased.”
According to Mykola Batyuk, no alcohol and drugs were found in the blood of the deceased.
“According to the results of the pre-trial investigation, taking into account the conclusions of forensic examinations, testimonies of witnesses and other data established during the investigative and investigative actions, the data obtained during the investigative experiment, the version of the commission of premeditated murder and the staging of suicide has been refuted. Today, the Main Investigation Department considers the main version of the death to be suicide committed for reasons that may be related to the personal life of the victim and his stay in the post of mayor. At the same time, the investigation does not reject the version of bringing to suicide for the same reasons,” Mykola Batyuk said.
He also added that information about the assassination of the mayor, which was disseminated on the Internet, was checked:
“The information that is posted on the Internet is verified by questioning the persons who posted this information. I would like to point out that none of the interrogated persons in support of their words that this was a murder has provided any evidence or justification.”
Mykola Batyuk also said that today in Kryvyi Rih the Main Investigation Department conducts searches for persons who may have information about committing this suicide or bringing it to suicide.
“Searches were carried out, during which mobile phones, computer equipment, flash drives with information that could possibly help in the investigation of this criminal case were seized.”
