Operatives detained a man who tore the Ukrainian flag from an administrative building in the capital Pechersk
On the fact of the desecration of the state flag, the police initiated criminal proceedings. For a committed offender, he faces up to three years in prison.
The police received a report that an unknown person tore the flag of Ukraine from the administrative building on Hrushevsky Street. The investigator-operational team of the district police department arrived at the specified address to document the incident.
According to the chief of police of Kyiv Andriy Kryshchenko, law enforcement officers talked on the spot with witnesses and eyewitnesses, as well as studied recordings from video surveillance cameras that recorded the event:
“As a result of operational and investigative measures, criminal police officers found a man involved in the offense. He turned out to be a native of the Dnipropetrovsk region, born in 1984. He was taken to the district police department. The man refused to explain the motives for his action.”
According to this fact, the investigative department of the Pechersk police department initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 338 (Naruga over state symbols) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The defendant was informed of the suspicion of committing a crime. The sanction of the article provides for a fine of one thousand to four thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to six months or imprisonment for up to three years.
