The initiators of this crime are two brothers known in the Kherson region, who are internationally wanted for organizing two murders in 2018. And the man behind the cord coordinated the actions of the direct performers.

According to the head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine Vadim Dziubinsky, Kherson police operatives received information that unknown persons in order to take personal revenge and intimidate a police officer are preparing to damage his personal property, in particular, to set fire to a car. During the clandestine search operations, the employees of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Main Investigation Department under the procedural direction of the Office of the Prosecutor General promptly identified the persons who were supposed to do so, and therefore planned a special operation to detain them.

“Having involved the special unit of KORD, during the control of the commission of the crime, immediately after the crime was committed, we detained three people for setting fire to the car of one of the heads of the territorial unit in the Kherson region,” said the head of the Criminal Investigation Department.

Three previously convicted Kherson residents were detained, one of the perpetrators was 33 years old, the other two were 31. The men were detained under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and informed them of the suspicion of committing the offense provided for in Part 2 of Art. 15 Part 2 of Art. 347 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, i.e. intentional damage to property belonging to an employee of a law enforcement agency or their close relatives, in connection with the performance of official duties by an employee of a law enforcement agency, committed by arson. The current legislation provides for such actions a punishment of up to fifteen years in prison.

Also, Vadim Dziubinsky said that the National Police operatives set the customers and the organizer of the police car on fire.

“The organizer of this crime, who coordinated the actions of the perpetrators, is abroad. The customers are two brothers known in the Kherson region who are under international investigation for organizing two custom-made murders in the territory of the Kherson region in 2018. In particular, the murder of a businessman and the attempted murder of his personal bodyguard, who was disabled. Another murder was prevented by police officers of the Kherson region and detained the immediate perpetrators.

Within the framework of the specified criminal proceedings, investigative actions are ongoing. Police continue operational and search measures to detain the organizer and customers of the crime.
